One of the must-sees in West Africa, in Dakar: Os and his house which now serves as a museum for contemporary art.

Accessible from our hotels, we will have half a day to integrate the artist's universe through his works.

Known for his monumental sculptures, Ousmane Sow was a great figure in contemporary African art and today leaves a great void in the Senegalese artistic landscape. It is with his first series on the Wrestlers of Nouba that this Dakarois is revealed to the public in 1987, at the Cultural Institute of the capital.

A physiotherapist by trade, he uses his increased knowledge of human anatomy to give realism to his works. He achieved international fame in 1999 during a retrospective bringing together his African series and The Battle of Little Big Horn on the Pont des Arts in Paris. Over 3 million visitors flock to see the exhibit

He even made every artist's dream come true by joining the Académie Française des Beaux-Arts in 2013.

Five other large bronzes are already installed in France: "Victor Hugo" and "The Man and the Child" in Besançon, "General de Gaulle" in Versailles, "The Guerrier Standing" in Angers, "Toussaint Louverture" in La Rochelle.

The Senegalese sculptor, one of the great Africans of contemporary art, died in December 2016 in Dakar.

Among his dreams: To open a place in Senegal dedicated to his most beautiful sculptures, where the public could contemplate them. This wish, although posthumous, has now come true thanks to his children and to Béatrice Soulé, his artistic agent, who have done everything possible to repatriate his works to Senegal. This house, so dear to his heart, which he baptized the Sphinx as a preamble to his imagined series on the Egyptians, now hosts his greatest works.

Between the colorful walls, covered with the material of his creations, we wander according to our desires, our favorites in this artistic labyrinth. From Nouba to great men, including the Peuls or unfinished projects, we admire his majestic sculptures.
