FLY OVER SENEGAL

Day 1: Arrival

On arrival, you will be met, assisted, and transferred to your hotel.

Your guide will give you a summary of your itinerary.

Day 2: Dakar -Goree

After breakfast, we will reach the port to take our ferry to Goree Island.

Land of martyrs and suffering, Goree was an important slave transit center before their deportation to the Americas.

Titled world heritage by UNESCO, our visit will start at the famous house of slaves, made by different cells, inside which slaves were stored.

We will observe the `Door of no return through which millions and millions of enslaved Africans crossed for the way of slavery.

Let us have lunch in Goree and sail back to Dakar for a city tour.

Our visit to Dakar will include the museum of black civilizations, the African renaissance monument, and following main avenues, and boulevards, we will be at independence square and then at the presidential house.

We will drive through interesting sites to feel Dakar, the capital city of French West Africa till 1902, and the capital of Senegal since 1960.

For our postal card, we will stop around its markets, Sandaga for clothing, Kermel for food, and Soumbedioune for crafts.

Day 3: Pink lake - Bandia Park – Saloum Delta

Check out from Dakar this morning and drive to the pink or Salty lake.

Famous for being the former final stage of the Paris-Dakar race, the lake is unique by the different colors of its waters.

Depending on the season, it is purple to mauve at dawn then pink once the sun is at the zenith. Those colors are caused by a combination of microorganisms and a high salt concentration: 380g /L.

Swimming in the waters or floating.

Interact with the salt harvesters, and embark on some pickups to follow the tracks of the Amsterdam-Dakar race along the Atlantic Coast….

After lunch, we will drive an hour to Bandia Reserve.

It will be through a forest of baobab and acacias trees, to meet mostly herbivorous wild animals like buffaloes, antelopes, impalas gazelles, elans, kudu, giraffes, monkeys, zebras…

Birds species such as small hornbills, eagles, vultures, kingfishers, grey herons…

A visit under a special baobab tree for an archeological course, the tomb of the griots.

Griots were cast people; storytellers, drummers, and singers and were often buried inside the hollow of the baobabs.

At the artificial river just aside to pet or swim with the crocodiles, and route for the South, straight the Saloum Delta.

Day 4: Sine Saloum – Marlodj Island - Saly

After breakfast in front of the Saloum River, we will sail to Marlodj island by motorized boat.

The Saloum Delta is an important reserve of biosphere made by mangroves trees forest and covering a surface of 2 hundred thousand hectares. ...

We can discover this North side of the Sine Saloum river made by various islands, and bird houses, this Delta is also the settlement of the Niominkas tribes: The Serrere fishermen who are living on the island of Marlodj

Visit and interact with the villagers and way back to Saly.

Before check-in to the hotel, we will stop at the fishing port of Mbour to visit its big market called the Souk, and attend to the return of the fishermen.

Overnight in Saly.

Day 5: Saly – Departure

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the Airport for your flight back
