Bandia Park – Somone delta
Departure for a half-day Safari in Bandia Park, and spent 03 hours driving through a forest of baobab trees and acacias.
The Bandia wildlife reserve is a real ecological jewel in Senegal. It has succeeded in reintroducing much of the marvellous native flora and some of Africa’s best-loved animals.
Many of which had gradually disappeared, some of them centuries ago, due to demographic pressure and poaching.
We will see mostly herbivorous wild animals as buffalo, antelopes, impalas, gazelles, elans, kudu, giraffes, monkeys, zebras, rhinoceros…
A family of hyenas is living inside a closed enclosure in this park
In this game drive, we can note some bird species as small hornbills, eagles, vultures, kinfishers, grey herons…
Let us visit a special baobab tree for an archeological course, the tomb of the griots.
Griots were cast people; storytellers, drummers, singers, and were often buried inside the hollow of the baobabs. With our local guide from the Park, we will know more about those tribes.
We will stop at the artificial river, just aside to pet or swim with the crocodiles.
Once out of this park, we will drive toward the seaside resort for a break in a restaurant
Lunch will be planned facing the Atlantic, followed by nautical activities, before continuing to the delta further north in the afternoon
The Somone river delta is an exceptional environment which blossoms with the tides over 7,000 ha, between mangrove forests and sandbanks.
There are mainly many shore birds: flamingos, pelicans, herons, egrets, cormorants...
Located aside from the Atlantic Ocean, the Delta is made up of islets, marshy areas, birds’ houses, and shell islands…
We will embark on some catamarans, then sail through a forest of mangrove trees to discover the aquatic fauna and flora
Relaxing on the white sand beach or just swimming in the blue waters, before taking the way back to the hotel.
