We may go by car or Walking, from the independence place, which is the heart of the city, then pass by presidential palace to admire this white house built 1907, this was the official residence of the governor general of French West Africa till 1958.

Just aside let us visit the main cathedral of Dakar

The Our Lady of Victories Cathedral also called Cathedral of African Remembrance was inaugurated in 1929. Today, the memory of Father Brottier is still preserved in this cathedral, which carries a new dedication: "To the Virgin Mary Mother of Jesus the Savior".

Next visit should be the African Renaissance Monument, a 164 foot high monument, overlooking Dakar that is taller than the Statue of Liberty.

This once controversial bronze statue is a popular attraction among locals as well as visitors.

The next visit will be the Africa’s most modern Museum: the Museum of African Civilization, a massive 4 story complex, which fulfilled the dream of Senegal’s first president Leopold Sedar Senghor.
