Sine Saloum Delta

After breakfast, we will leave for a journey to the gates of the Southern. The UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Sine-Saloum Delta with its unique ecosystem of mangroves, abundant bird species, unparalleled fishing opportunities, and a rich local culture make the delta one the must-see places in Senegal.

Driving through the bush, we will pass through villages and giant termite mounds, and then palm grove forests.

We will make stops along the way for visits and discuss with our meetings, before arriving at the pier of Ndangane

By dugout boat, during our ride we will discover this ecological complex of Two hundred thousand hectares, which is home to thousands of birds divided into several families and various species of fish as well as crustaceans

By our motorized boat we will reach the mythic village of Marlodj, the settlement of the Niominkas tribes, which are the Serrere fishermen, a Senegalese ethnic group.

We will interact with them, and walk through this island to discover their daily life, as such as the sacred wood by the libations.

Those peoples still keep this invisible link with the ancestral traditions, by worshipping the woods, the stones, or the waters. In these places, each life is essential.

Let us stop under the shade of the palaver tree, the main place for discussing and often used by the council of the wise men as a court, discover the tam-tam telephone for communication…

Island of fishermen and farmers, Marlodj island have the traditional values based on the matriarchal lineage.

Lunch facing the delta, relaxation in the hammocks, and then return to the seaside resort by the trails for more discoveries.

Stop and visit a nomadic camp, an ethnic group very present in Senegal, always in search of water and pasture for their herds. Our last stop should be to discover the millenary baobab tree in Fadial village.
